Community pharmacy is playing an increasingly important role in the delivery of healthcare across the UK.
As the sector continues to evolve, collaboration between pharmacy employers, healthcare organisations, training providers and industry partners will be essential to building a sustainable future – this is why Skills4Pharmacy is pleased to have joined the Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) as one of the first organisations to take part in its new Associate Partner Programme.
The programme brings together organisations with a shared interest in community pharmacy and the wider healthcare landscape, creating opportunities to exchange insights, collaborate on shared priorities, and contribute to conversations about the future of pharmacy.
Why Collaboration Matters
Community pharmacies are facing a changing landscape with increasing demand for healthcare services, evolving patient expectations, and ongoing workforce pressures, all of which are placing greater demands on pharmacy teams.
Meeting these challenges requires more than individual organisations working independently – it requires the sector to share knowledge, understand emerging challenges, and work together on practical solutions.
Through the programme, partner organisations can engage with the CCA’s network, insights, and expertise while contributing their own knowledge and experience to discussions about the future of community pharmacy, which is proving to be an increasingly important role in providing accessible care within local communities.
At Skills4Pharmacy, we work with pharmacy employers to support workforce development through Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant and Level 3 Pharmacy Technician apprenticeships. Our approach combines workplace learning with tutor-led training, ongoing learner support and practical development. For employers, apprenticeships can provide a structured route to building capability with their existing workforces, while creating opportunities for progression and retention.
What the CCA Associate Partnership Means
The CCA represents some of the UK’s most significant pharmacy employers, making it an important voice within the community pharmacy sector. Joining the Associate Partnership programme gives Skills4Pharmacy the opportunity to engage more closely with organisations working across community pharmacy and the wider healthcare sector.
The programme provides opportunities to:
• Gain insight into developments affecting community pharmacy
• Connect with organisations across the sector
• Share knowledge and expertise
• Contribute to discussions around workforce and service development
• Explore opportunities for collaboration
• Support conversations about the future of pharmacy
Investing in existing employees and creating structured routes into pharmacy careers can help employers build more sustainable teams. Apprenticeships offer a way to combine employment with formal development, allowing learners to gain practical experience while working towards a recognised qualification.
Partnerships between pharmacy employers, professional organisations, healthcare companies and training providers can help ensure that conversations about the future of pharmacy include the practical realities facing the workforce.
As an Associate Partner of the CCA, Skills4Pharmacy looks forward to contributing to those conversations and sharing our experience of pharmacy workforce development.
For us, the goal is simple: supporting pharmacy employers to develop skilled, confident teams that are equipped to meet the changing needs of patients and the wider healthcare system.
