NHS England launch the Community Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme.

NHS England has launched the Community Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme. This programme will support Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs) to be employed and complete their full 24-month apprenticeship training within a community pharmacy setting. Upon completing training and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), registered Pharmacy Technicians bring valuable expertise and knowledge and contribute to the evolving role of community pharmacy in healthcare.

Funding Offer

NHS England is offering a training contribution of £15,053 per trainee, per year for two years (24 months) to support community pharmacies in developing a PTPT programme that meets the GPhC IET standards for pharmacy technicians and the NHS England Education Quality Framework.

530 places are available and there are 22 posts available per group.

Application process

You must submit an expression of interest (EOI) on this online application form to apply for funding.

  • The application window is open until Sunday, 13th October 2024. Please read the contractor guidance document before applying online.

  • Pharmacy contractors will be emailed on Monday, November 4, 2024, with the outcome of the application.

  • PTPTs will need to be enrolled and have started the apprenticeship training programme by Friday, 28th February 2025.
