Emily’s Apprenticeship Journey at Weston Road Pharmacy

At Skills4Pharmacy, every learner story is unique, but they all share the same thread: curiosity supported with guidance. Emily, an apprentice at Weston Road Pharmacy, has embraced her training with enthusiasm and determination. From tackling complex pharmacy legislation to understanding the role of safeguarding, she has discovered how relevant her learning is to real pharmacy practice. With expert support from her tutor and encouragement from her workplace, Emily has grown in confidence and is already planning her next steps in the sector.

What are you enjoying most about your apprenticeship?

Emily: “I have enjoyed every part of my apprenticeship, especially learning about the different laws and legislations behind the job role. I was set an assignment at the start of my course on county lines, I did not understand why we needed to learn about this subject as I did not feel it was relevant to the role. However, in a live lesson we went into more depth about this topic and it started to make sense. It was interesting to learn how this links to pharmacy and how to spot the signs and how to report these.”

How has Skills4Pharmacy supported you?

Emily: “I have been offered so much support from my tutor, Sabrina. She has always offered extra 1 to 1s if I needed them and has always been available to answer any questions I may have had.”

From an employer’s perspective, how have you seen Emily progress?

Employer: “Emily has always said how she is able to get extra support when she needs it and would like to thank Skills4 for giving her the opportunity to gain this qualification and further her career.”

What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting a pharmacy apprenticeship?

Emily: “Definitely do it, it has been great to gain extra knowledge and join in the live lessons and interact with other apprentices on the same course.”

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Emily: “I would like to be in the same sector of work but in a higher position. I plan to go on to do level 3 and progress in pharmacy.”
