The next wave of expanding the Pharmacy Technician workforce in Community Pharmacy is now open.

NHS England Workforce, Training and Education (WT&E) has officially launched its next wave of funding to support the recruitment and training of 525 Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs) across community pharmacy settings over a 24-month apprenticeship.

The funding is available for new PTPTs who have not enrolled in or begun training. Training placements must begin between September 2025 and 31 October 2025.

Funding Support

NHSE WT&E is offering a training contribution of £15,053 per trainee, per year for two years (24 months) to support community pharmacies in developing a PTPT programme.

To complete the Expression of Interest (EoI), contractors must ensure their training programme aligns with the GPhC Initial Education Standards for Pharmacy Technicians, available on the GPhC website and the NHS England Education Quality Framework.
